Hellenic Foundation Donates $50,000 to Support the Ukraine Crisis Response of International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC)

In response to the urgent humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Foundation voted to donate $50,000 to support the IOCC’s emergency efforts.

We hope and pray that we can help alleviate the unspeakable hardship and suffering the people in the area are enduring.

Below is a letter received from Constantine M. Triantafilou, Executive Director & CEO of IOCC.

Mr. Peter E. Valessares

Dear Mr. Valessares,

Thank you for the Hellenic Foundation’s incredibly generous grant of $50,000 to support the Ukraine crisis response of International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). I appreciate the opportunity to partner with you to address what is surely one of the most terrible humanitarian tragedies of our time.

IOCC will combine the Hellenic Foundation’s gift with an additional private donation of $50,000, leveraging your generosity and doubling your impact in service of people facing unspeakable hardship and loss.

As a starting point, IOCC’s planned humanitarian response is getting underway with the following:

  • Delivering food and hygiene items to shelters in Ukraine and Poland
  • Helping refugees in Romania get from the border to safe accommodation
  • Providing families in Romania who are hosting refugees with food, toiletries, and household cleaning items
  • Supplying laptops and other equipment to accommodation centers in Poland so refugee students can continue their education remotely

As the work continues, the Hellenic Foundation’s gift to IOCC will be serving people in very real, practical ways.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to be in touch. Again, I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Hellenic Foundation in the vital work of serving our neighbors in great need.

In Christ,

Constantine M. Triantafilou
Executive Director & CEO
