The Hellenic Foundation is pleased to announce our newest initiative to help the Senior Citizens of our Greek and Orthodox communities…Hellenic Foundation Golden Circle.
Out of the philosophy, that activity breeds longevity, the Golden Circle program was created in 1979 to offer Greek-American seniors in the Chicagoland metropolitan area opportunities to socialize, make new friends, and stay in touch with their community. Golden Circle concluded with the sale of the Hollywood House in 2007. The social needs of the senior population in Chicagoland’s Greek Orthodox churches, past and present, remain the same and especially in the post-pandemic environment.
Therefore the Hellenic Foundation has brought back the Golden Circle program in a new way.
Our Board of Directors has approved a funding program to reimburse up to $2,500 per year per parish for bus travel expenses of Senior Group outings for participating Chicago-area parishes from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023.
All Greek Orthodox parishes in Illinois within a 50-mile radius of Chicago have been invited to participate. Signed Letters of Participation are due to the Hellenic Foundation by August 1 to be eligible for this program.
Congratulations to the following parishes that have responded to date and will be participating in this program:
